'Remarkable achievement': Mockery as J.D. Vance polls as least-liked VP nominee in decades

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) has managed to attain a dubious achievement since being named as former President Donald Trump's running mate, CNN election forecaster Harry Enten explained Tuesday.

"JD Vance is making history as the least liked VP nominee (non-incumbent) since 1980 following his/her party's convention," said Enten. "He's the first to have a net negative favorable rating. Not surprising given how weak he ran in Ohio in 2022. Far worse than the average Ohio Republican."

This news triggered widespread mockery from commentators on social media.

"Remarkable achievement tbh when you consider how Palin and Quayle were viewed as morons from the get go and people accused Ferraro of being in the mafia," wrote the account @mavericksmovies.

"It's a hostile world for couch corrupters," wrote the account @weisselbergers — a reference to a viral internet hoax making the rounds claiming that Vance, in his "Hillbilly Elegy" memoir, said he had sex with couch cushions. He did not write any such thing.

"Can Democrats get Trump to say out loud he doesn't regret the pick?" wrote the account @pourmecoffee. "It will certainly be very funny when he does. Good talk."

"JD Vance's speech at convention was like all the really boring meandering parts of Trump's speech minus the compelling stuff at the start," wrote the account @CrazyFenaker. "A total snoozer. And then he fell flat on his face at his first political rally with the Diet Mountain Dew comment."

"Yeah, he sucks," wrote the account @keyboardius. "Reeks of fakeness and people see through it. I don’t buy his story, seems very curated and carefully crafted. I don’t like him."

"I might give him three weeks before he’s replaced," wrote the account @tkped.
