Four LA County men arrested for alleged roles in several 2023 armed robberies

Four Los Angeles County men accused of multiple armed robberies that targeted mostly 7-Eleven stores in South Los Angeles last year were arrested Tuesday, July 23, the California Department of Justice said.

The defendants; a 23-year-old from Compton, 25-year-old from Torrance, 22-year-old from Hollywood and a 26-year-old from South Los Angeles were each charged with the Hobbs Act, or interference with commerce by robbery, and one count of conspiracy to interference with commerce by robbery.

From November to December 2023, the defendants allegedly committed several armed robberies that targeted 7-Eleven stores in South Los Angeles, as well as a CVS in Hollywood. The men would jump over the counters and take money from the cash register before placing it in a black Nike bag while one of the defendants pointed a gun at a customer or store employee and demanded their cellphone or wallet, according to an indictment.

Roughly $7,617 was stolen during the armed robbery spree. Following the robbery of a 7-Eleven store on November 28, 2023, the 25-year-old defendant is accused of tagging two other defendants in an Instagram photo posted with stacks of cash and the caption “love my bros we go hit every time,” the indictment alleges.

For each Hobbs Act related count, the defendants face a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a minimum sentence seven years for each firearm brandishing count or up to life in prison if convicted, the California Department of Justice said.
