'Veep' Creator Reacts to Theories of 2024 Election Mirroring HBO TV Show's Ending

The creator of Veep is responding to fan theories about the current 2024 Presidential Election.

Social media users have been drawing up comparisons of what’s going on in the current US political climate, with President Joe Biden dropping out of the race and VP Kamala Harris stepping in as the presumptive Democratic nominee.

One X/Twitter user wrote, “Let’s remind ourselves that #Veep has already written a fictional version of this script .. Kamala *inherits* the actual presidency. Then runs. The electoral college is tied. The house vote is tied. Which means the Senate has to choose the tie breaking candidate. And that ends up with … JD Vance as POTUS (Nb this is DRAMA …)”

This prompted a response from Veep creator Armando Iannucci, who quote tweeted it, saying, “Don’t forget we made all that up, though”

He also commented on another post, writing, “Still working on the ending,” and in a separate post, shared a photo of President Biden and Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus walking through the White House sporting aviator sunglasses.

In the Veep finale, Julia‘s Selina Meyer wins her party’s nomination and eventually goes on to win the presidency.

Last year, Julia Louis-Dreyfus addressed the possibility of a Veep reboot… her character died in the finale in a flash-forward.
