Moped rider allegedly punched 2 men unconscious on Manhattan sidewalk

HELL'S KITCHEN, Manhattan (PIX11) --- A moped rider bumped into a man on a Manhattan sidewalk before punching the pedestrian and his friend, knocking them unconscious, police said.

The suspect was riding on the sidewalk when he allegedly attacked a 56-year-old man and his 38-year-old friend during a fight near 627 Ninth Ave. in Hell's Kitchen at around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, according to the NYPD.

The moped rider allegedly punched the 56-year-old man in the face and hit his friend when he intervened, knocking them both unconscious, police said. The 38-year-old man hit his head on the sidewalk after the blow and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to the NYPD. The other victim was not critically injured.

The suspect then took off on the black moped, police said. There have been no arrests.
