RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (PIX11) – A pair of sea turtles returned to the ocean on Tuesday with the help of the New York Marine Rescue Center on Long Island.

They were released into the waters at Robert Moses State Park.

A loggerhead turtle, named Sheldon, and an Atlantic green turtle, named Midas, were brought to the rescue center in Riverhead over the winter.

Workers took care of the injured animals until they were strong enough to survive in the wild. Satellite tags will allow the center to track the turtles for research.
