Dad killed daughter, 13, and himself in 100mph horror smash after taking cocaine and ‘necking’ drinks at pub

A DAD killed himself and his 13-year-old daughter in a 100mph horror crash after taking cocaine, an inquest heard today.

Daniel Roberts got behind the wheel of his BMW to take Lacie and three of her pals home when the tragedy unfolded.

The 34-year-old, who was banned from driving at the time, had earlier been “necking” drinks at a boozy pub session.

An inquest heard Lacie’s teen pals had begged him to slow down when he lost control and crashed into a gym in Flint, Wales.

Both he and his daughter died while the three other passengers were left injured.

A post mortem showed Roberts had 104 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of blood – the legal limit being 80.

The dad, who was described as “hammered” before getting in his car, also had cocaine in his system.

Coroner John Gittins, recorded a conclusion of unlawful killing into Lacie’s death due to gross negligence manslaughter.

The court was told Roberts, who was estranged from Lacie’s mum, had visited two family homes and a pub before the April 22 crash.

He had been speeding in a 40mph zone when he smashed through a wire fence, careered across a car park and into the wall of the gym.

Lacie died from multiple injuries, while the three others in the car were left seriously wounded in hospital.

Her mum Kieley said the crash “wasn’t an accident” as it “could have been prevented.”

She also told how her estranged husband had been “drinking all day” for his girlfriend’s birthday celebrations and was “wasted” by the time he got behind the wheel.

The mum added: “My daughter’s life has been snatched away all for a joy ride.

“My girl, age 13, trusted her dad and dad’s girlfriend that night…you took her life and destroyed mine and my families.”

Paying tribute, she continued: “She had so much about her and I wish I could pour it all out but no words will bring her back home to me, and to us.

“She is loved and forever will be. I never want to not hear her name, and I’ll try and keep memories of Lacie alive – whether that be crying or laughing, she will be remembered.

“We all love you and will miss you daily, until we meet again, my mini me – I love you so, so much.”
