Used car supermarket that sells thousands of motors CLOSES today – with customers redirected to ‘megastore’
A CAR dealership responsible for the sale of thousands of used vehicles has been forced to close.
The Birmingham car supermarket has shut in an attempt to gain from the Midlands market.
The Trade Centre UK branch hopes to reassure prospective buyers, redirecting them to nearby ‘megastore’ facilities in Wednesbury and Coventry.
Andy Coulthurst, CEO of Trade Centre UK, claims that the decision follows research which suggests that buyers are more likely to prefer the megastore over smaller outlets.
Coulthurst said: “Customers are 50% more likely to buy a car from a Megastore format, due to the much wider choice of stock, amongst thousands of cars on offer and prime retail locations.
“The Wednesbury and Coventry Megastores are located just 30 minutes’ drive from the Birmingham South location, meaning that customers do not have to drive far to save at least £2,000 on Autotrader prices.”
The CEO also wants to emphasise that both Megastore sites are stocked and ready for the possibility of increased customers.
He added: “Our new Megastore locations at Wednesbury and Coventry are currently benefiting from increased levels of quality retail stock to satisfy demand from our new Megastore retail concept.”
Bosses at the Birmingham South site confirmed that most staff have already been relocated to the sites which can both be found within half an hour from the now closed premises.
Although some staff have remained on site to “assist with the store closure logistics”.
The spokesperson for the used car supermarket has also confirmed that there are no current plans to consolidate stores within other market regions.
This comes after an unrelated but beloved car dealership was forced to cut 40 jobs earlier this week.
Ken Brown Motors which has been trading since 1991 has also shut two of its showrooms amid contract frustrations and issues with roadworks.
