Manipur HC directs Manipur govt to withdraw long-pending criminal cases against three former cadres of Mizo National Front

The Manipur High Court directed the withdrawal of long-pending criminal cases against three former Mizo National Front (MNF) cadres. These cases, dating back to 1984, were supposed to be withdrawn under the 1986 Mizo Peace Accord. The court ruled that there was no record that limited the settlement to Mizoram, contradicting the Manipur government’s argument. The Union and State Governments were instructed to withdraw the prosecution within three months. The petitioners had been arrested for a robbery in Manipur in 1984 and had been out on bail since shortly after their arrest.
