Capitol curator, tour guide announces his retirement

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Capitol tour and Capitol Haunting Tour guide Stuart Lehman has announced his retirement. Lehman has been giving tours of the Capitol for over 20 years and sharing its rich history with tourists and residents.

Although a fascinated skeptic, Lehman was the originator of the Capitol Hauntings Tours, which take place in the fall before Halloween. The haunted tours started with 30 guests and quickly escalated to hundreds of guests over the years.

A Lehman signature is his chosen attire for the tours. Garbed in historically accurate suits, Lehman would transport Capitol guests back to 1867, when the building was first constructed. Lehman's legacy with the Capitol will live on through online segments of his tours posted to the YouTube channel of the New York State Office of General Services.
