Trader Joe's to open in Harlem: 'Honored to be part of this community'

HARLEM, N.Y. (PIX11) – In a first in the company’s history, Trader Joe’s is opening in Harlem on Thursday. 

The store is set to open its doors at 123 West 125th St. at 8 a.m. 

“We’re honored and excited to be part of this community,” a spokesperson said. “We genuinely look forward to providing our customers with the best food and beverage values and a great customer experience.”

The store's massive 17,800-square-foot building will feature a unique section of food items that customers have come to love. Its building interior will highlight local landmarks, like the famous Apollo Theater and the iconic 125th Street, a spokesperson said. 

With the new opening of Trader Joe’s in Harlem, the grocery chain is also looking to hire 100 new crew members from the surrounding areas. Interested applicants can find more details here

The Harlem Trader Joe’s will donate 100% of its unsold products to various local profits and community-based organizations, according to the company.
