Love Is In The Air At Paris Olympics 2024 As Argentine Couple Enjoy Romantic Day At Games Village – WATCH
Argentine men’s handball star Pablo Simonet proposed to Pilar Campoy, who is a part of Argentina women’s hockey squad. Both had competed at 2016 Rio Olympics.
New Delhi: Love is in the air for Pablo Simonet and Pilar Campoy in Paris even before the Olympics started. Just a day before the Opening Ceremony, Simonet, a member of the Argentina handball team, surprised his girlfriend of a decade Campoy with a marriage proposal, the video of which went viral on social media. Campoy is a part of the Argentina women’s hockey squad.
According to reports, it was Simonet who decided to surprise his girlfriend when players from both teams decided to take a group photo. While they were posing for the photo, Simonet went down on one knee with a ring in front of Campoy. The Argentine hockey star was taken aback initially before accepting the proposal.
In the background, players from both Argentine handball and hockey teams were seen cheering for the lovely couple. Both Simonet and Campoy met through sport. Initially, social media was the only medium of communication between the two as Simonet was based in France while Campoy was in Argentina.

After some time, they met at their home country and also made their Olympic debut in 2016 Rio Games. Interestingly, both won gold medals for their respective teams at the Pan American Games 2023. Infact, Simonet’s brothers Diego and Sebastian played in the Olympics for the Argentina handball team.
