When did you move out to LA?Michelle Joy: I moved out to LA in 2012, and I’ve been out here ever since. I grew up in South Florida, and then I went to Florida State University and I lived in Tallahassee for five years. I felt like I needed some change so I went out to Los Angeles. I had this secret desire to finish writing all these songs I had just started on my own and kept to myself. I went to Craigslist at the time looking for other musicians and found Ryan and Paul on there.SIGT: That’s amazing.
