WINDHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Adaptive Sports Foundation is set to host its third annual Warriors in Motion mountain biking event from July 30-August 1. Daily events will begin in Greene County but extend into Albany County.

The Warriors in Motion programs allow injured United States military veterans to participate in adaptive sports and activities throughout the year. In its events, the Adaptive Sports Foundation provides meals, equipment, instruction, lodging and in-event transportation free to charge to the participants.

As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, six retired military veterans are expected to attend the event. But there is still more time to register. One participant said he doesn't ride bikes often but he's looking forward to the event.

"I’m looking forward to spending time with other veterans,” Matt Garrad, a participant and army veteran said in a statement. “I’ve been on a bike two times in the last month, which equates to biking two times in several years; I love doing strenuous activities but doing them with other people makes it more enjoyable.”

Here is a schedule of events:

  • Tuesday: Meet at Gwen Allard Adaptive Sports Center, 100 Silverman Way, for lunch then bike to CD Lane Park, 35 Big Hallow Rd. in Maplecrest.
  • Wednesday: Travel to Thacher State Park and ride 25 miles of trails.
  • Thursday: Travel to Tannersville Bike Park and take part in a time-trial race on the downhill trail, "Thriller."

To participate in any military programs with the Adaptive Sports Foundation or to attend the mountain biking event, visit their website, www.adaptivesportsfoundation.org to sign up.
