Bob Dylan biopic ‘A Complete Unknown’ showcases New York landmarks

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Iconic sites in the Big Apple will be on the big screen this winter.

A trailer for the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothée Chalamet, “A Complete Unknown,” was released Wednesday. The film will follow a young Dylan in New York City, leading up to his performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.

Filming took place on the streets of New York and New Jersey last March and showcases sites Dylan frequented in the ’60s. In the trailer, we see historic spots like Hotel Chelsea and Riverside Church, both of which are designated landmarks and are preserved on the National Register of Historic Places. Greenwich club Cafe Wha? also appears in the film’s backdrop as it served as a starting point for the likes of Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen and Kool & the Gang.

Actresses Monica Barbaro and Elle Fanning star alongside Chalamet, playing Dylan’s competing love interests at the time. The film, directed and written by James Mangold, is set to hit theaters this December.
