Everyone agrees my sister picked ‘the ugliest name ever’ for her child – but I’m still being blamed for how I told her

A BATTLE brewed after two sisters fought over how one decided to announce her future baby’s name.

She simply couldn’t stand back and let her sister go ahead with the plan, even as the rest of her family turned against her.

OH BABY

Redditor Duckxshoes has shared how the blowup began while blowing up balloons at her sister’s baby shower.

Things were going well enough as she and her family were helping to set up for the occasion, but things took a troubling turn.

“That is until I saw a huge sign with the words ‘Strummer Azrael Quinn’,” she said.

It took her a while to make sense of the moniker.

“I was confused and asked my sister about it, and she told me it was the name she decided on for her baby,” she said.

“I generally don’t care what parents name their kids, but we’re not celebrities and as the child’s aunt, I thought I would try to save it the embarrassment,” she continued.

BLAME GAME

Her sister did not seem to appreciate her opinion surrounding the situation.

“I suggested maybe not putting up the sign and then taking time to think more about the name as a family,” she said.

“She got upset and said it was a perfectly fine name and she wanted the sign to be hung up,” she said.

It didn’t take long for other family members to get involved.

“My mom came over to see what the problem was and after I explained the situation, she got mad at me for ‘creating problems’ and said it didn’t matter if I liked the name or not,” she said.

“They told me to leave since I was ‘ruining her big day’ and I haven’t spoken to my sister since.

IN AGREEMENT

Many others, however, agreed with the ill-fated nature of the name.

One Redditor made clear where they stood on who was really to blame.

“Her for picking possibly the ugliest name ever, and for throwing her own baby shower. You for saying anything besides ‘oh, how unique’,” they said.

Others also weighed in on the baby name debacle.

“Oh my. That’s an unfortunate combo,” said another user.

“I can almost guarantee that your niece/nephew will want to get her name changed at some point,” they added.

“It’s really not a good idea, this name. Why in the world did she pick it?” a user asked.

“Other kids will be ruthless and bully,” a Redditor commented.

“This odd name will affect this child their whole life,” said yet another.

“That will be after 18 years of trauma until they’re old enough to petition the court for a name change,” they added.
