LASG TRAINS ARTISANS ON ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION 

Lagos State Government has charged Tradesmen and Artisans to synergise at their workplace to achieve the objectives of the Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans.

Dr. Biodun Onayele, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment gave the admonition recently at a training programme on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) organised for Tradesmen and Artisans by the Ministry at Alausa.

Onayele stated that it is important for Artisans to become agents of change in mediation cases and to also cascade the benefits of the training session to the public.

In her remark, the Director, Legal Unit in the Ministry, Mrs. Bukola Akanni noted that the training is important to enhance a good working relationship among Artisans of various Associations. 

She implored Artisans to embrace Alternative Dispute Resolution as a strategy for procedures of resolving civil or commercial disputes without resorting to litigation, which can be expensive, cumbersome and time-consuming.

Akanni reiterated that the Ministry will continue to embark on programmes to educate artisans on their rights as well as their protection in the State.

The event was also attended by top government officials including Mrs. Taiwo Abiose, Director, Entrepreneurship Department in the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment; while facilitators were Mrs. Adeola Odumabo, Deputy Director, Citizens Mediation Centre, Mrs. Isijola Ibiyemi, Deputy  Director, Citizens Mediation Centre and Eng. Lawrence Ajayi, President, Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans, amongst others
