Well, What Did You Think Jon Voight Would Say?

Jon Voight has a cover story in Variety for being a Trump supporter (and for being in Megalopolis) and is using the platform to claim that his daughter, Angelina Jolie, has been exposed to “propaganda” because she supports Gaza. “She’s been influenced by antisemitic people,” he claimed in the interview. “Angie has a connection to the U.N., and she’s enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees.” Jolie made a statement on Instagram supporting the people of Gaza on October 28, 2023. “Anything that can prevent civilian casualties and save lives must be done,” she wrote at the time. “Like many others I have donated to medical relief efforts.”

Despite being described as a doting grandfather and proud father in the profile, Voight slams Jolie for her peace efforts, saying she has incorrect information. After Variety challenges him on the quality of Jolie’s sourcing, Voight’s face reportedly turns red. “I love my daughter. I don’t want to fight with my daughter,” he says. “But the fact is, I think she has been influenced by the U.N. From the beginning, it’s been awful with human rights. They call it human rights, but it’s just anti-Israel bashing.”

Voight is also a historic supporter of Donald Trump, likely Trump’s most-outspoken supporter working with the mainstream entertainment industry. In 2019, Trump awarded him the National Medal of the Arts. Voight is 85 years old and, largely, his rhetoric seems to be exactly the same as any Fox News Grandpa. What did we think he’d say?
