Bronx man killed in mugging while trying to park car, police say

THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a 28-year-old during a mugging Tuesday.

The family of Idriss Cherie-El-Farissy is devastated over his shooting death.

“By killing him, they killed the American dream,” his brother Moulay said.

Police said the victim had just finished his shift as a delivery driver at a local Papa John's. He was trying to park his car near his home on East 176th Street and Crotona Park when he was shot in the head around 3 a.m.

Sources told PIX11News surveillance video shows the gunman going through the victim’s pockets before he took off.

Cherif-El-Farissy worked in finance but took on a second job to help care for his family.

His brother said he migrated from Morocco years ago, attended school here, and obtained a college degree.

“He was just coming home; he was the best guy. He did not deserve this; Justice needs to be served,” Moulay said.
