LARKSPUR

Deadline near for
seats on rent board

The application deadline is July 31 for prospective members of the Larkspur Rent Review Board.

The city created the board as part of its rent stabilization ordinance. The board will hear appeals of the city manager’s decisions on “fair return” petitions.

The board will consist of two residential tenants in the city; two property owners who have residential tenants; and one resident who neither rents nor owns rental property. The term is for four years.

Home expansions
approved by board

The town Planning Commission has approved two residential expansion projects.

One application called for remodeling 152 Dominga Ave. and enlarging it from 1,159 square feet to 1,500 square feet. The other application requested a 386-square-foot expansion at 85 Wood Lane.

The commission approved the plans at its meeting on July 18, said Jeffrey Beiswenger, the town planning director.

2 hurt in
DUI crash

Authorities arrested a driver who broadsided a vehicle in downtown San Rafael.

The crash was reported around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the corner of Third and B streets. Two people suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Investigators determined that the suspect was speeding on westbound Third Street and ran a red light before striking a vehicle as it moved through the intersection. Police Sgt. Justin Graham said that the collision pushed the victim’s car into a signal pole.

Witnesses chased and detained the suspect, Graham said. The police determined that the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Elmer Arnulfo Cortez-Delgado, 18, of San Rafael was arrested on suspicion of committing a DUI offense that caused injuries, a hit-and-run offense, driving without a license, and being a DUI offender as a minor. He was booked into Marin County Jail, where his bail was set at $50,000.

High school
reunion set

Tamalpais High School’s Class of 1964 Reunion Committee will hold a 60th high school reunion celebration on Aug. 24.

The event begins at 3 p.m. at San Rafael Yacht Club, 200 Yacht Club Drive. The cost is $64 for class members and
$50 for guests. RSVP by Aug. 1.
