The Indian Ocean Region (IOR), bridging the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, is becoming a critical axis of global trade and geopolitical interest. A webinar organized by CUTS International discussed the IOR's multifaceted role in shaping international dynamics, focusing on strategic, economic, and environmental considerations. Key chokepoints like the Malacca Strait, Gulf of Aden, and the Strait of Hormuz, through which 80 percent of oil trade passes, are of strategic importance.
