Speaking to BBC, Janet recalled being thrust into the spotlight from a young age.

“I don’t ever remember being asked,” she admitted. “I just remember doing it.”

The sister of Michael and her other talented brothers had a successful music and acting career of her own.

On the topic of her love life, the outlet noted that she reflected on her three marriages with a laugh.

Her first marriage was to James DeBarge and sparked some challenges in her professional life as he struggled with addiction.

“I was doing the TV show Fame at the time and I’d be late for work and hold up shooting,” she recalled. “I wasn’t being irresponsible. I just felt that [James] needed me more than the show.”

Janet continued, adding, “I got spoken to a few times by the producers. I’m not sure they were that fond of me.”

The couple married in 1984 and separated the following year.

She even opened up about her son Eissa Al Mana, whom she shares with her estranged husband Wissam.

“Being a mum is the most beautiful thing,” Janet told the outlet. “I love every single minute of it.”
