Whatson this weekend

In true summer fashion, this weekend is dedicated to the island’s festivals. A handful of them are on this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, bringing festive, cheerful times to every corner of the island. From traditional celebrations and local harvest to music nights and beer-loving events, this will be another packed end of the week. Here’s what’s on this weekend!

On since Tuesday is the MED Fest Limassol Beer Festival, held at My Mall Limassol. Every evening the doors open to a ground filled with food stands, bars serving beers of Cyprus and the world and a stage that hosts DJs and singers from Cyprus and Greece. A highlight performance on Saturday, the last day of the festival, is Greek reggae band Locomondo, which is set to start at 10pm.

Another beer festival is happening this weekend and it arrives for its very first edition. The 1st Tembria Beer Festival will take place on Saturday at the village square serving ice cold beers and a variety of food options. Visitors will be able to choose from burger stands, sizzling souvlaki grills, hot dogs, crepes and crispy loukoumades. Doors open at 4.30pm and as the sun sets, a live music programme will commence.

For more tasty treats and outdoor vibes, the Fork Food Market is happening in Ayia Napa for the first time this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday from 7pm onwards, street food stalls will be set up at the Ayia Napa central square offering cuisines from around the world. On the first evening, DJ Wanderwonder will be on the decks while on night two, DJ Frankie will take over to add a tuneful note to the event.

In Lythrodontas, Pervoli Fest will offer a two-day line-up of music and outdoor fun. Six DJ performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday as well as horseback riding, volleyball games and camping. Other Nicosia district villages will also have festivals on this weekend, in a more traditional character. Akaki village will host its Watermelon Dance on Friday night featuring the region’s watermelon producers, food creations and live music.

Platanistasa village will organise the 9th Hazel Tree Fest this weekend with a series of activities that include guided walks in the forest, a market with local items, village visits and an entertainment programme.

If all that is not enough, for those staying in Limassol a three-day second hand book bazaar will take place at Sto Dromo bar. From Friday until Sunday (6pm-11pm), a large selection of books will be on sale in the heart of Limassol to transport book lovers into different literary worlds.
