A CASH-SAVVY woman has revealed how she was able to save a staggering £10k in less than half a year.

As millions of Brits across the nation are struggling to make ends meet due to the skyrocketing costs, Milly explained that the secret behind saving cash is something called the ”numbers challenge”.

Offering a helping hand to cash-strapped households, the influencer revealed the pair was able to save the eye-watering amount thanks to spare change, as well as a special box.

In the video, Milly showed off the wooden box that was neatly decorated with a range of various numbers, such as five, ten, 20 and 50.

Each of of these was the paper notes Milly and her boyfriend would then be putting inside the box whenever they had change – and once the note had gone in, they’d tick off the number.

Raving about the creative money-saving solution, Milly said that the box ”also comes with a tracker to mark off your progress as you go along”.

”Once all the numbers are completed, you save £10k.

”I think this is such a fun way to save your spare change – and if you have a friend or partner, it’s a great way to save together.”

According to the money-smart couple, they will be using the astronomical savings to enjoy a summer vacation – what better way to celebrate the massive achievement!

The fun the idea clearly struck a chord with fellow internet users – as the clip has since racked up a staggering 135k likes and over 1k comments.

Many appeared to be keen to replicate the smart method, with one writing: ”Get me that box.”

Another agreed, adding: “I need this box.”

However, while the idea was indeed great, not everyone thought it would be feasible for a number of people who are struggling financially.

“Great idea, but you have to have £2,000 a month spare to save,” pointed out one critic.

Meanwhile, others questioned if they’d be able to spare such hefty sums.

Top five money-saving tips

Money-smart mum Gemma Bird who's mortgage-free at 42 shares her top tips...

1. Move the odd amount every day into a savings account. So, if you have £203 in your current account, transfer the £3.

2. When shopping online, add everything to your basket but don’t buy it. Come back two days later – you’ll find you remove things you don’t actually want or need.

3. To save around £300 a year on your energy bills, boil your kettle once a day. Fill it up using six cups of water, boil, then pour into a Thermos. You then have water to use throughout the day instead of boiling multiple times.

4. Make money on your old clothes in minutes by taking a bag of any size clothing into an H&M store. Simply hand it over and they will recycle the items and give you a £5 voucher to use in store. You need to download the app, which is free, and you build points to get money off.

5. The heavier your car, the more fuel it will use, so take off the roof rack and unload the boot. Google petrol prices in your area, and arrange to do your trip to the cheapest garage when you are driving nearby, so that you won’t be wasting fuel in order to refuel.

One viewer wondered: “Who has £10 spare change let alone £500?”

Someone else quipped: “That ain’t my spare change. My spare change is coppers.”
