Wheeler Dealers host Mike Brewer urges petrolheads to snap up small motor ‘that’s going to be a future classic’

WHEELER DEALERS host Mike Brewer has urged drivers to seek out a recently discontinued hot hatchback that he claims will be a “future classic”.

The motoring star is an expert when it comes to picking out profitable cars – and has a keen eye for modern classics.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Mike picked out the performance version of the Ford Fiesta as a car to snap up now while you can.

The Fiesta was a best-seller in the UK for many years, but was discontinued by Ford last year after a five-decade run.

Despite that, they’re still one of the most frequently seen cars on UK roads – and was considered the most popular choice for motorists looking for a second-hand bargain last year.

Mike said: “The Mk7 Fiesta ST, whether it’s the standard ST or the higher-performance model.

“They are definitely going to be sought after in the next three to four years, if not sooner.

“They’re very, very desirable as Ford is not making the Fiesta anymore.

“That’s a car loved by the public of the UK and definitely one that’s going to be a future classic.”

The seventh generation Fiesta ST was the final high-performance iteration of the motor build – and was produced from 2018 until the very end in 2023.

Capable of 197bhp, the little hot hatchback can hit a surprisingly quick top speed of 144mph and will do 0 to 60mph in just 6.3 seconds.

The Fiesta ST was priced at £19,290 when it was new, but can now be picked up for around £10,000.

Indeed, popular used car marketplaces such as AutoTrader currently have examples listed in that price-range.

Last year, Mike and his Wheeler Dealers’ co-host Marc Priestley were left stunned when a classic, Mk1 Fiesta that they’d painstakingly restored for an episode of the show was stolen.

The incredibly-rare motor was taken by thieves outside a hotel in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, in June 2023.

Over a year since the incident, the pair have given up on being reunited with little car, with Mike declaring it’s “completely gone from the face of the Earth.”

He added: “People have said they have seen it and reported the trailer but unfortunately it’s never been followed up and we don’t want to chase villains down the road.

“It’s gone, unfortunately.

“It is no more and it is such a shame as there were only four registered in the UK, it’s such a shame that the car is no more.”

Elsewhere, Mike has revealed his “top choice” for a modern classic sports car – and it won’t break the bank.

What happened to Mike Brewer's Ford Fiesta?

Mike Brewer revealed that his Ford Fiesta Mk1 was stolen in June 2023.

  • The Wheeler Dealers Ford Fiesta was being stored in a trailer used to transport the classic car.
  • It was parked in the same car park of the hotel where the TV star was staying the night.
  • Hours of work had been spent by engineers to fully restore the iconic Mk1.
  • The project was to commemorate the end of the Ford hatchback era and to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Wheeler Dealers show.
  • The motor was stolen just hours before it was meant to be shown off at a special car show.
  • Both presenters from the show quickly appealed to members of the public and the classic car community to share any information on the whereabouts of the stolen motor.
  • In an interview with the Express, the Wheeler Dealers host offered £5,000 to anyone who could tell him where the Ford Fiesta Mk1 was.
  • Mike previously described the theft as “like losing a child”.
  • There have been no further leads since the TV stars’ appeal.
