Quick-thinking boy, 6, saves mum after asking Amazon driver for help

'Hopefully, it can remind other parents the importance of teaching them what to do.'

Video has emerged of the moment a six-year-old boy asked an Amazon delivery driver to help his unconcious mum inside.

Mum Elizabeth Crooks, 26, had suffered an episode of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) which saw her heart rate spike to nearly 180 BPM – causing her to pass out.

Elizabeth had been unconscious for nearly 20 minutes when an Amazon driver arrived to deliver a package to their home – and her quick thinking son, Aiden, alerted the driver to his mum’s plight.

Ring doorbell footage showed little Aiden walking to the gate of his home in Newtownards, Northern Ireland, to grab the package, before thanking the driver.

He then asked: ‘Excuse me. Can you help my mum?’

The delivery driver’s face immediately changed, and he walked towards the house while calling for help.

Elizabeth told BelfastLive: ‘It was such a shock to the system. When I came round, all I could see was the high-visibility vest so I automatically thought it was the paramedics to be honest.

‘And Aiden had wrapped me in a blanket and went and got a bucket. Obviously I had said “mummy doesn’t feel well”, so he must have thought that meant I was going to be sick.

‘I was so proud of Aidan – even saying “she’s fainted”, I don’t know if I’ve ever used that term. Now, he did break down crying in the ambulance, God bless him.’

Elizabeth was taken to hospital, where medics believe she had a particularly bad episode of POTS.

The footage has gone viral on social media, with many praising the delivery driver for taking the time to stop and listen to little Aiden.

The delivery driver, Bryan, replied to one of the viral videos, writing: ‘That was me the delivery driver. I’m glad she is okay and she should be very proud of her kids and for all wondering, I still have my job. Amazon was cool with it.’

One social media user commented: ‘The fact he didn’t hesitate, amazing. He deserves recognition for what he did. What a lovely man.’

Mum Elizabeth has since been in contact with the driver to thank him for his help, but has been ‘overwhelmed’ by the reaction.

She said: ‘Hopefully, it can remind other parents the importance of teaching them what to do.’

A GoFundMe has been set up for Bryan and has already raised more than £200 to reward him for his good deed.
