Harry likely to go on ‘olive branch trip’ to UK without Meghan this summer
An insider claimed Meghan has 'too much on her plate'.
Prince Harry could be heading to the United Kingdom alone – again – after it was revealed Meghan likely won’t join him on an ‘olive branch’ trip to repair his relationships with his family.
The 39-year-old Duke of Sussex is said to be planning an extended stay in his home country to ‘prioritise mending his broken relationship with his family’.
But the Duchess of Sussex won’t be joining her husband, as an insider claimed she has ‘too much on her plate’ as she prepares to fully launch her new lifestyle brand.
A source near to the royal family told Closer: ‘Harry is very anxious to go home and see his dad, catch up with his friends for his birthday in September and also pay a visit to his aunt, Princess Anne. But that situation hasn’t changed for Meghan.
‘She’s respectful that Harry has to go back to his home for practical and emotional reasons, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to go with him.’
It’s understood Meghan is hesitant to return to the UK after the pair were ‘heckled’ in public during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Though the couple will likely spend a month or more apart as Harry tries to bond with his family again, the source said the separation from Meghan will be ‘difficult’.
They added: ‘It might make for a pretty lonely summer. Even if they are still fully committed to their marriage, so much time apart is never easy.’
It comes as ITV will air a new documentary, ‘Tabloids On Trial’, tonight – in which Prince Harry spoke of the ‘paranoia’ caused by his phone hacking.
In 2019, Harry filed claims at the High Court over alleged illegal interception of voicemail messages.
He was awarded more than £140,000 in damages from the Mirror Group in December last year.
Harry told ITV: ‘When you’re vindicated, it proves that you weren’t being paranoid.’
He also spoke about how his mother Princess Diana ‘motivates’ him in his legal battles against tabloids, as he thinks the paranoia he’s been through is the ‘same’ as his mum’s.
The Duke of Sussex explained: ‘There is evidence to suggest that she was being hacked in the mid-90s, probably one of the first people to be hacked and yet still today, the press, the tabloid press very much enjoy painting her as being paranoid.
‘But she wasn’t paranoid, she was absolutely right about what was happening to her.
‘And she’s not around today to, to find out the truth.’
