Police have launched an investigation after ‘human organs’ were discovered in a container in south London.

A member of the public found the suspicious container in Rosehill Park, Sutton, late yesterday afternoon.

The area has been cordoned off as police investigate the findings, which will be forensically examined.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: ‘Police were called at approximately 4.30pm on Wednesday, July 24 by a member of the public who reported finding a container in Rosehill Park, Sutton containing what was described as human or animal organs inside.

‘The container has been secured by police and the contents will be forensically examined.’

The usually quiet London park is a place where children often play with their parents.

Earlier this year, a man was arrested after a headless torso was discovered in a Manchester nature reserve.

The victim was believed to be man in his 40s, and had already been dead for a few days, police revealed.

The body was found by a member of the public, who discovered an ‘unknown item wrapped in plastic’ and notified police.

A pathologist and detectives attended the scene and confirmed it was human remains.
