The 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony will commence tomorrow, Friday, in Paris, France.

This edition of the Olympics will feature 10,500 athletes from 206 countries competing in 32 sports for a total of 300 gold, silver, and bronze medals.

The games will run for 16 days, concluding on August 11 after 329 events.

Dubbed the most “digital” and “greenest” Olympics in history, this year’s games will showcase how modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and virtual reality, enhance the quality of the events and create an exciting experience for both athletes and spectators.

During the Olympics, Paris is expected to welcome 5 million tourists from around the world.

Coca-Cola, one of the international sponsors of the Paris Olympics, will install 700 fountains providing water, soda, and beverages at all Olympic sites, allowing people to enjoy drinks with their reusable cups or bottles.

Notably, six Afghan athletes, including three men and three women, will participate in various sports at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Afghan male athletes will compete in running, swimming, and judo, while Afghan female athletes will take part in running and cycling.

Meanwhile, the Paris 2024 Olympics promises to be a landmark event, combining technological advancements with environmental sustainability. As the global spotlight turns to Paris, the games are set to offer an inspiring showcase of athletic prowess and international camaraderie while also highlighting the participation of athletes from diverse backgrounds, including Afghanistan.
