Free-to-play game takes back latest changes following player backlash

GAMES are becoming more expensive, not only as software prices rise but subscriptions, too.

Xbox recently announced a price rise for Game Pass, and it’s not the only company that has made price increases.

Even free-to-play games aren’t immune from price hikes, as prices have been rising for in-game purchases.

Recently, Apex Legends announced changes to its battle pass, which would stop players from getting free rewards.

Apex Legends has always had a Free and Premium Battle Pass, and the Premium Pass used to cost 950 Apex Coins.

However, regular players could chain their Premium Battle Passes, as there were always enough Apex Coins included in the rewards to claim your next pass.

In the recent announcement, developer Respawn stated that the Premium Battle Pass would no longer be obtainable using the in-game currency.

Instead, players would have to spend real money if they want to play with the Premium Battle Pass.

Players were obviously outraged, and felt that the developers were forcing them to spend more.

They took to social media to voice their complaints and it appears that Respawn has listened to the feedback.

The company has released a statement via the official Apex Legends Twitter account saying that players will continue to be able to purchase the Premium Battle Pass using in-game currency.

The statement reads: “You’ve spoken, and we’ve listened.

“With the release of Season 22 we will restore the ability to get the Premium Battle Pass for 950 Apex Coins.

“We recognise that we could have handled the Battle Pass changes better – that’s on us.”

Companies don’t always listen to player feedback and maintain unpopular changes despite backlash.

Players are thrilled with the decision to roll back the changes calling it a win for Respawn.
