Hawthorne Bridge lanes to close Thursday afternoon

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Westbound lanes on the Hawthorne Bridge will be closed starting Thursday for repairs, Multnomah County announced Wednesday.

The repairs, part of the Hawthorne Bridge Paving and Repair Project, will keep the lanes closed from 2 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday.

During the closure, the county said there will be a westbound pedestrian and bicycle detour starting at Southeast Grand Avenue.

The county is asking drivers to be cautious near the construction zone and to plan to take alternate routes.
