Woman, 70, charged after baby girl hit & killed by BMW while in her pram outside hospital

A WOMAN has been charged after an eight-month-old baby was hit and killed by a BMW while in her pram.

Bridget Carole Curtis, 70, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after tot Mabli Cariad Hall was struck down outside Withybush Hospital in Pembrokeshire last year.

The horror unfolded at around 11.50am on June 21 and Mabli tragically died from traumatic brain injuries, an inquest previously heard.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed: A woman has been charged following the death of a baby in a collision outside Withybush General Hospital last year.

“Bridget Carole Curtis, aged 70, of Begelly, has been charged with causing the death of eight-month-old Mabli Cariad Hall by driving dangerously on June 21, 2023.

“She will appear at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court next month.”

At the time of the crash, Curtis was treated in hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries along with a passenger in the car.

A second pedestrian struck by the BMW was also taken to hospital but later discharged.

Following her death, Mabli’s parents, Rob and Gwen Hall released a heartbreaking tribute.

They said: “We are absolutely heartbroken by the death of our beautiful baby girl, Mabli.

“She was adored by us and her five siblings, and brought us so much joy in her short life.

“We will always remember Mabli’s beautiful little smile and cherish the time we had with her.

“We would like to thank everyone who tried to help us at such a tragic time; the people who were there when it happened, the emergency services who came to our aid and the amazing staff at Withybush, the Heath in Cardiff and Bristol Children’s Hospital.

“Their strength and support allowed us to focus on Mabli.”
