Ex-Spandau Ballet singer filmed himself raping woman & used another ‘like a sex slave’ in string of horror assaults
AN ex-Spandau Ballet singer is facing jail after filming himself raping a woman and using another “like a sex slave”.
Ross Davidson — known to fans as Ross Wild — was labelled “manipulative and sadistic” in court as he stood trial for launching a string of horror sex acts on numerous women.
The Scotsman had become “a bit of a sex symbol” after starring in the West End musical ‘We Will Rock You’ – but the court heard how he thought it gave him the right to have any woman he wanted.
He was also the lead singer in Spandau Ballet in 2018, under his stage name of Ross Wild.
The Wood Green Crown Court heard how he was a sex addict who wanted intercourse up to six times a night and forced himself on women who refused him.
Davidson, who was also the lead singer in Spandau Ballet in 2018, had been accused of a series of sex offences against five women over a 10-year period between 2013 and 2023.
The singer denied the assaults, telling the court: “I have never raped, sexually assaulted or coerced any woman in my life.”
Davidson, 36, has now been found guilty of raping one woman and sexually assaulting two others.
He showed no trace of emotion as he was convicted of assaults against three of the women.
Davidson filmed himself raping the first woman after they had an argument at his flat on October 1, 2013.
Richard Hearnden, prosecuting, told the court: “Afterwards, he said to her ‘why do you look like you’ve been raped’. She was shocked he would ask such a question.
“Unusually, there is actually independent proof of what happened.
“This is because the defendant secretly filmed it.”
Davidson sexually assaulted the same woman by grinding his crotch against her as he groaned: “This is what you want.”
Mr Hearnden, prosecuting, earlier described Ross as a “bit of a sex symbol”.
He told the court: “He is very good looking and physically fit. He sings, plays the guitar, and is said to be charming and charismatic.
“His darker side is not the first thing that many women and girls notice about him.
‘Raped, coerced and sexually assaulted’
“But the women in this case can all attest to that sinister part of his personality.
“He has raped, coerced, and sexually assaulted a number of young women over the last decade.
“It is often supposed that men such as the defendant, blessed with good looks and star quality, can get any girl he wants without having to resort to committing sexual offences, without having to resort to forcing himself on women, without having to resort to rape.
“Yet, the reality belies that supposition. In this case, many young women have come forward to tell the police that they have been victims of Mr Davidson’s predatory behaviour.
“It is because he expects to get sex on demand that he will resort to rape and sexual assault if he is not given what he thinks he deserves.”
A second woman was sexually assaulted by Davidson when he fondled her breasts.
What he did to her was bizarre and perverted: he fondled her breasts while she was fast asleep.
Prosecutor
He told her he had a “particular fantasy” to have sex with a woman while she was asleep.
She was “disgusted and distressed” to find out he had filmed her too.
A third woman was attacked in Cannes where he had gone for the film festival in May 2018.
Mr Hearnden told the court: “What he did to her was bizarre and perverted: he fondled her breasts while she was fast asleep. She didn’t know this, of course.”
The woman later identified herself from a screenshot taken from the video.
The prosecutor said: “When she found out that she had been sexually molested she was devastated.”
A fourth woman claimed she was also filmed by Davidson as she gave him oral sex.
‘Utterly manipulative’
When she caught him with his phone in his hand he said he was “replying to a text”.
She claimed he had repeated intercourse with him and was too sore for more sex.
Mr Hearned described Davidson as “an utterly manipulative and sadistic individual”.
He continued: “She was being used as some sort of sexual slave. He wanted to have sexual intercourse five or six times a night.
“When she said it was too much, he forced her to have sex with him.
“He even told her that he had a kink of having sex with women while they were asleep.”

Prosecutor
The guilty verdicts were reached with a majority of either 10-2 or 11-1 after 11 hours and 57 minutes.
Davidson was cleared of a charge of controlling and coercive behaviour relating to the fourth complainant.
The judge had earlier directing to clear Davidson of one charge of intimidation relating to one of the complainants at the close of the prosecution case.
Davidson was remanded in custody ahead of sentence on September 6.
