New Value Bundle From Max, Disney+, and Hulu Offers Solid Savings

Competitors are teaming up for the first time.

As the streaming wars continue apace, competitors are starting to get into business together. Today, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery officially launched their new streaming bundle partnership, which combines Max, Disney+, and Hulu into one subscription.

The new bundle service comes into both ad-supported and ad-free options, with the former running $16.99 per month, and the latter costing $29.99 per month.

These prices represent a fairly significant savings. All three services' ad-supported tiers would total to roughly $26 per month, or about $9 more. Meanwhile, the ad-free tiers would add up to about $37, roughly $7 more.

It's the first time that media companies have directly teamed up with competitors to offer bundles for their services, although it's likely to remind many of the concept of cable television. Indeed, cable companies like Comcast already offered combo streaming bundles. Streamers are hoping it will reduce subscriber churn, a growing problem for many services that have seen high cancellation rates.

“We have found that when you bundle together with other content that more people in the family like—on a very basic level—the more often you watch product, the more people in the family that watch the product, the lower the churn,” said Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav earlier this year.
