The rivalry between Tottenham and their fellow London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea does not simply stay on the football field, it extends into the transfer market, too. That’s certainly the case when it comes to one Serie A superstar this summer, anyway.

London calling for Federico Chiesa

That’s because all three clubs are now embroiled in a tug-of-war to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus this summer, with Arsenal the latest club to join the pursuit of the Italian winger.

According to a report from SportMediaSet (via Calciomercato), both Tottenham and Chelsea have made contact with Chiesa and his representatives, but no concrete negotiations have taken place just yet.

This has opened the door for the Gunners, who have now “made a new survey” and have been discussing the nature of any prospective deal with Juventus for Chiesa.

The Italy international is into the last 12 months of his current contract and Juventus are hoping to raise between €20-25m (£16.8-21m) with a sale this summer.

Chiesa is taking his time

It is thought Chiesa is ready to leave Serie A, despite interest from AS Roma, and that he is favouring a move to the Premier League, something he is prepared to wait for rather than rushing into deciding on his future (CalcioMercato).

Spurs have reportedly already made an approach to Chiesa (Area Napoli) and have prepared an offer of £6m-per-year for the 26-year-old (TuttoJuve).

Chiesa has not been included in Juventus’ pre-season tour in Germany and is training alone at the club’s facilities in Italy (Gianluca Di Marzio).

I can see Chiesa being a real success at Arsenal or Spurs, maybe not so much Chelsea as big players seem to struggle there at the moment.

I’d quite like to see us take a gamble on Chiesa, as I think we could get the best out of him in our system.
