Horror moment mum-of-eight poured petrol over ex-lover’s brother & set van on fire in brutal arson attack

A MUM-OF-EIGHT doused her ex-lover’s brother in petrol and set his new van alight in a shocking attack, a court heard.

Gemma Peregreen, 37, tried to pour a jerry can of fuel over Tyronne Webb after he went to her Wales flat to pick up his brother’s belongings following a messy split.

Newport Crown Court heard how there was “bad feeling” after the bitter break-up between Mr Webb’s brother and Peregreen.

Disturbing footage of the brutal arson, on February 26 earlier this year, was played for the court.

It showed the terrifying moment the victim’s van erupted into flames while he prayed the fire did not reach him.

In an impact statement, Mr Webb said he would have feared for his life if the petrol that covered him was ignited too.

He also told the court more than £2,000 in damages was caused to his vehicle.

“I never want to see her again,” said Mr Webb.

Peregreen, of St Briavels in the Forest of Dean, pleaded guilty to arson reckless as to whether life was endangered.

Judge Daniel Williams told Peregreen: “Because of that history [the break-up between Peregreen and Mr Webb’s brother], the two of you exchanged unpleasant words.

“You appeared to him to be under the influence of alcohol.

“You went to throw petrol over him and he managed to parry away from you after you lunged at him.

“You then poured petrol on his van and set fire to it.

“You were reckless as to whether the lives of other people were in danger.

“There was the use of an accelerant and multiple people may have been in danger.”

Defence barrister Ross McQuillan-Johnson said his client was “disgusted” by her behaviour.

He added Peregreen had been assessed as a low risk of reoffending.

The defendant was given a two year suspended sentence.

She also was slapped with a 10-year restraining order not to contact Mr Webb.

As she left court, Judge Williams told her: “You are free to go – don’t mess up.”
