'Let's go!' Kamala Harris hits Trump for 'backpedalling' on debate

Vice President Kamala Harris slapped back at former President Donald Trump during an impromptu talk with reporters on the tarmac Thursday.

As she departed a plane, Harris accused Trump of trying to duck out of a presidential debate on Sept. 10 after President Joe Biden stepped down from his campaign and endorsed his running mate.

"He agreed to that previously," Harris told reporters, "Now it appears he is backpedaling."

Earlier this week, Trump tried to ditch the ABC News-hosted debate, arguing it should be hosted by Fox News instead.

Trump will likely face off against Harris because of the presidential debate last month that marked the beginning of the end of Biden's 2024 campaign.

Biden's poor performance spurred concerns about his age, 81, and ability to hold office for four more years.

Biden's decision to step down means Trump, 78, has become the candidate who must field off age attacks.

Harris, 59, suggested Thursday that voters have the right to see the difference between herself and Trump.

"I think the voters deserve to see this split screen that exists in this race on a debate stage," Harris said. "I'm ready, let's go."
