Crossbow ‘killer’ paralysed from self-inflicted wound hasn’t been quizzed over ‘murder’ of BBC star’s wife & daughters
THE man arrested over the crossbow murders of racing commentator John Hunt’s wife and daughters has been left paralysed from a self-inflicted wound.
Doctors have said 26-year-old Kyle Clifford is unlikely to walk again after apparently firing a bolt into his upper body before police got to him.
It is said to have pierced his spinal cord.
Clifford was found unconscious by armed cops the day after Carol Hunt, 51, and daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were discovered with fatal injuries.
They had been bound and gagged for hours at their house in Bushey, Herts.
Clifford is later thought to have spotted police dog units and turned the crossbow on himself in bushes at a cemetery close to his home in Enfield, North London.
He was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital, in Whitechapel, East London.
He has now come to, but detectives are still waiting for guidance from medics before trying to interview him.
Though Clifford has been formally arrested, the custody clock will not start running until he is quizzed.
Herts Police told The Sun: “The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the incident.
“We would not comment on details of an individual’s medical condition.”
It is alleged Clifford — previously in a relationship with Louise after meeting through a dating site — left and returned to the Hunt’s cul-de-sac home after taking the three women prisoner.
One daughter, believed to be Louise, managed to text her boyfriend urging him to call police as well as reportedly also dialling 999 herself.
Commentator John, who works for BBC Radio 5 Live and Sky TV, had been at a race meeting. He arrived home soon after his wife and daughters were found by police.
He has described the attacks as a “horrid evil that’s swept through our lives, wreaking devastation on an unimaginable scale”.
And he praised surviving daughter Amy’s response as “magnificently inspirational”.
A GoFundMe page has been launched to help freelance lifestyle journalist Amy.
Both she and her father are being comforted and kept up to date by police family liaison officers.
The Sun approached Clifford’s mum at the family home in Enfield, but she refused to comment.
