MARYLAND BUILDING COLLAPSE: LASEMA RESCUES THREE PERSONS 

… Recovers Three Bodies 

The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) has rescued three people from the rubbles of the building collapse at 13 Wilson Mba Street, Arowojobe Estate, Maryland, Lagos, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday.

According to a preliminary report issued by the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Agency responded to the above incident and discovered that a set of three terraces under construction had collapsed. Three lives were lost in the incident.

He said,  “Search and Rescue operations began immediately after we got to ground zero. Three adult male bodies were recovered, two male adults were rescued and one adult male trapped under the rubble was rescued alive by the LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire service”.

Oke-Osanyintolu said that all six men were site workers and the injured are currently receiving pre-hospital care on location while SEHMU has been contacted for the remains of the three fatalities. 

Reassuring Lagosians that the present administration remains committed to the safety of lives and properties in the State, the Permanent Secretary said that a combined team of the Agency personnel, Fire Service and Nigeria Police are still working at the scenes and an excavator has been deployed to accelerate the search and rescue operations.
