'Trump is in a bad place' and he can't 'late-night rage post' his way out of it: analyst

The deluge of Donald Trump posts on his Truth Social account since President Joe Biden stepped aside and cleared the path for Vice President Kamala Harris to become the presumptive 2024 Democratic Party's presidential candidate is a sign the former president is in a panic, an analyst said Friday.

The Washington Post's Dana Milbank suggested the former president is trying to convince both himself and his fans that things are going smoothly — when they are not.

Since the stunning announcement from Biden and the subsequent massive wave of support for Harris — combined with Ohio Republican Sen. J. D. Vance's flop as a running mate — the former president has been able to cut through the fascination with Harris coming from relieved voters.

As Milbank succinctly put it, "There are just over 100 days until the election, and Donald Trump is in a bad place."

To make his case, he quoted a Trump Truth Social post where the ex-president raged, “Lyin’ Kamala Harris has absolutely terrible pole (sic) numbers against a fine and brilliant young man named DONALD J. TRUMP!” which led the Washington Post columnist to quip, "Were those North Pole numbers or South Pole numbers? The brilliant young man didn’t say."

Having said that, he insisted that Trump's "late-night rage posts from his social media account" after getting mad at what he's seeing on TV is not helping make his case to voters.

Noting the former president has been lashing out in multiple directions only to share a clip of him "breathing heavily" after golfing and then asking his fans, "You think Biden can do that?” the political analyst stated Trump has lost the plot as Harris's campaign takes center stage.

"The world has changed overnight, and Trump is going to need a mulligan," he suggested.
