Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to focus on “targeted terrorism, subversive actions, and terrorism” by India outside its borders, rather than blaming others.
Narendra Modi has asserted that Pakistan continues to maintain its connections to “terrorism and proxy wars.”
On Friday, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement describing Modi’s remarks as warlike, claiming that such statements undermine regional peace and reverse efforts to resolve longstanding disputes between Pakistan and India, particularly the Kashmir conflict.
The statement added, “Indian leaders’ rhetoric cannot divert international attention from India’s harsh approach toward suppressing the just struggle of the Kashmiri people for their fundamental rights and freedoms, including their right to self-determination.”
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry declared that the country is prepared to counter any aggressive actions by India and has the capability to defend its territorial integrity against any invasion. Nonetheless, it emphasized Islamabad’s commitment to advancing peace and stability in the region.
Modi accused Pakistan of not learning from its past “shameful” actions and failures, continuing to maintain its ties with terrorism and proxy wars.
Modi further asserted that Islamabad’s “sinister plans” will never succeed. He made these comments after visiting the 1999 India-Pakistan conflict memorial in the Kargil region of the Himalayas, stating that he speaks from a place where “supporters of terrorism” will clearly hear his voice.
Relations between India and Pakistan, two nuclear-armed neighbors in South Asia, have been tense for decades. India accuses Pakistan of supporting Islamist militants against Delhi in Kashmir. Both countries claim full ownership of the Himalayan region but currently control separate parts of it.
The ongoing diplomatic exchange highlights the deep-seated tensions between India and Pakistan, with both countries holding firm to their respective positions.
Modi’s strong statements and Pakistan’s rebuttals underscore the complexities of their relationship, particularly concerning the Kashmir dispute. The situation remains fluid, with both nations navigating their strategic interests while addressing regional and international concerns.
