President Joe Biden onThrusday, July 25th, emphasized the need for a ceasefire in the Gaza conflict during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.

During the meeting, Netanyahu expressed appreciation for the 50 years of U.S. support for Israel.

This was the second face-to-face meeting between Biden and Netanyahu following the deadly Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Biden had previously visited Israel on October 26, 2023, to show solidarity with the country.

On June 11, Biden announced a three-phase plan to halt the Gaza conflict, aiming to create conditions for the release of hostages held by Hamas and to end the war.

Since then, negotiations mediated by the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar have been ongoing to seek an end to the violence in the region.

On the same day, Netanyahu is also scheduled to meet with Kamala Harris, the U.S. Vice President and the Democratic Party’s nominee for the upcoming election.

Reuters reported that observers will closely follow the meeting between Netanyahu and Harris to determine whether there will be any shift in Washington’s policy towards Israel if Harris wins the election.

The discussions highlight the ongoing diplomatic efforts to address the Gaza conflict and the future of U.S.-Israel relations amid the evolving political landscape.

The high-level meetings between Biden and Netanyahu, and later between Netanyahu and Harris, underscore the U.S.’s active role in seeking solutions to the Gaza conflict. The outcome of these discussions will likely influence future diplomatic strategies and the dynamics of international relations in the region.

As the situation evolves, the international community remains attentive to how U.S. policies might shift and the potential impact on both regional stability and global diplomatic alignments.
