Reports indicate that Turkey have reported Gul Mohammad Pahlawan, a military commander and former member of the Afghan parliament known for his anti-Taliban stance in northern Afghanistan, has been expelled from Turkey.

According to sources, Pahlawan’s residency permit in Turkey has been revoked, leading him to travel to Iran.

Sources further add that this Uzbek commander, who has fought against the Taliban for years, is currently residing in Iran following his expulsion from Turkey.

According to sources, Gul Mohammad Pahlawan had purchased property in Ankara and Istanbul to obtain Turkish citizenship. However, despite owning property in Turkey, the Turkish government annulled his residency.

Gul Mohammad Pahlawan is a military commander from Shirin Tagab district in Faryab province, known for his support by Marshal Dostum from Balkh province, which led to his election to the Afghanistan parliament in the sixteenth parliamentary elections.

Reports state that Gul Mohammad Pahlawan has been fighting against the Taliban for years as a local commander in the previous government.

Earlier, last month, the National Movement Party confirmed that the Turkish government had detained five military commanders affiliated with Abdul Rashid Dostum and transferred them to a migrant deportation center in Istanbul.

the report also said that Turkish police forced four military commanders from the National Movement Party of Afghanistan to sign deportation papers.

This comes amid a report from Sar-e-Pul that commander Ezatullah knwon as Zil commander was killed in the province after being expelled from Iran by unidentified individuals.

These events underscore the precarious situation faced by Afghan exiles, reflecting broader regional instability. The expulsion and detainment of key figures highlight urgent needs for international support and intervention to address ongoing displacement and political uncertainty.
