Harvey Guillén lines up post-What We Do In The Shadows gig, and more casting news of the week

Never fear, What We Do In The Shadows fans, Harvey Guillén’s got his next gig lined up. The actor will star in the new “bromance comedy” That Friend, the debut feature from writer-directors Will Sterling and Alex Wall. Per Deadline, the film will begin production in December. According to the outlet, Guillén will play Paul, the titular “that friend.” As in, “that one friend we all have whose invitation for ‘one drink’ seems harmless but the next thing you know, you’re drunk on a Tuesday, swaying in your kitchen eating dry top ramen out of the bag and wishing you hadn’t just sent that text. Henry is just trying to have a romantic weekend in Palm Springs with his new girlfriend Penny until Paul crashes their trip. And when Paul’s pack of drug-laced cigarettes disappear into the hands of a stranger, the night really takes a turn.”Elsewhere this week, there’s new projects from A24, Apple, Netflix, and some new additions to fan-favorite series like The Morning Show, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Law & Order.  I Know What You Did Last Summer casts a new generation of stars: Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks), Camila Mendes (Riverdale), Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers (Atlanta) and Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid). Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are in talks to return with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) set to direct from a script co-written with Sam Lansky. Egor Abramenko (Sputnik) will direct from a script by Will Soodik (Westworld) based on a short story by Philip Fracassi. [via Deadline] Costa Ronin (The Americans, Homeland) will join For All Mankind’s fifth season as “Lenya, a Soviet politician and former cosmonaut.” [via Deadline] Tessa Thompson will executive produce and star in His & Hers, a new psychological thriller limited series based on Alice Feeney’s novel for Netflix. She’ll play Anna, a reclusive fading journalist who is drawn into a murder mystery in her hometown and landing in the middle of Detective Jack Harper’s investigation.
