Patriots Rumors: Why DeMario Douglas Limited In Training Camp

FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots receiver DeMario Douglas has gone through drills with his fellow pass-catchers during the first two training camp practices. But when the Patriots have taken the field at Gillette Stadium for competitive periods, Douglas has stayed off to the side.

NBC Sports’ Phil Perry on Thursday shed some light on Douglas’ limited action and reported the second-year wideout is dealing with a hand injury. Given the fact Douglas has participated to some extent, it’s fair to assume it’s not an injury that will cause him to be limited for an extended period.

New England’s offense surely hopes that’s the case, at least.

The Patriots have turned to a flurry of different receivers including Ja’Lynn Polk, who has ran with the first team each of the last two days. Jalen Reagor, a Day 1 standout, and Tyquan Thornton, a Day 2 standout, have done so as well.

Douglas entered training camp viewed as a roster lock after he totaled 561 yards on 49 receptions during his rookie season.
