Tottenham linked with Federico Chiesa

Fabrizio Romano was one of the first to report this summer that Juventus plan on selling Federico Chiesa because he is part of new manager Thiago Motta’s plans.

The same journalist later revealed that Chiesa, who recently played for Italy at the European Championships, would be available for around £21m with add-ons (Fabrizio Romano).

SportMediaSet (via CalcioNapoli24) sensationally reported this week that Chiesa was on the verge of a €30m-35m (£25.3m – £29.5m) transfer to Tottenham.

They said live on air: “Chiesa will say goodbye to Italy, he won’t go to Roma or Napoli but to the Premier League. He is close to Tottenham for €30-35m (£25.3m – £29.5m).”

Fabrizio Romano denies Chiesa to Spurs rumour

However, Fabrizio Romano has now poured cold water on the idea that Chiesa is close to joining Tottenham because the Italian has allegedly not even chosen his preferred destination yet.

He said (Playback): “Questions on Chiesa. My friend, at the moment I can guarantee to you that Chiesa hasn’t decided anything despite all of the rumours.”

Of course, this does not rule out a future move to North London, but it appears Spurs fans will have to wait a little longer to see whether Chiesa actually wants to join the club.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Federico Chiesa would undoubtedly be a big name for Tottenham to sign this summer, especially at a bargain £25m or so.

The big question is: would Spurs get the Chiesa of 2021? Or would they get the struggling and injury-prone Chiesa of 2024? Perhaps it’s a risk worth taking either way.
