It could be a busy summer for Tottenham Hotspur, as Ange Postecoglou looks to add to his squad, and the Spurs boss has been speaking to the press about all the places he is searching for new talent.

Asia can bring top talent to Premier League

As Tottenham tour South Korea and Japan this summer, Ange Postecoglou will be in familiar territory given his time coaching in the latter.

Speaking to the press (via Football.London), Postecoglou was asked whether he would ever look to bring Japanese players to the Premier League and whether he had any certain names in mind.

He said: “Good try! We’re constantly looking. Everyone knows me. I spent close to four years here in Japan. I loved my time here and I really think the J League is a competition that ranks with, apart from maybe the big five or six leagues in Europe, I believe it ranks equal in quality with other leagues.

“I really believe that Japan is producing some world-class players, who are already making their mark on the Premier League. We have seen Mitoma go to Brighton and the Premier League and do fantastically well. I took three or four, maybe more, players to Celtic and they’re all making an impact.

“We’re constantly looking everywhere. I guess my experience here showed me that you can find quality footballers and footballers who will fit into the style we want to play from anywhere and we’re constantly looking. So, my answer is not yes and not no.”

Spurs have already dipped into the Asian market

Already this summer, Tottenham are close to securing a new signing, with South Korean teenager Min-hyuk Yang on the verge of joining.

The 18-year-old will have to wait until January to land in North London. Fabrizio Romano has given the move his ‘Here we go’ seal of approval, but we are waiting for Tottenham to officially announce the switch.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think it would be foolish to think that Spurs wouldn’t look in every single country and market for new players. You never know where the next world-class talent is going to come from. And, as we’ve seen with Heung-min Son, Asia can definitely produce exceptional players.
