What We’re Tracking

  • Seasonable temperatures tomorrow
  • Limited rain chances
  • Getting hot next week

Temperatures tonight fall down into the upper 60s and lower 70s under a mostly clear sky. An area of high pressure from the west will start to shift over head, and that will crank our temperatures up later into the weekend. Highs tomorrow will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s. This is our coolest day for a while.

The upper level jet stream continues to carry wildfire smoke from the Pacific Northwest and Canada into northeast Kansas. Although not as prominent as it has been the last couple of days, we still have a 'hazy' look outside and a red tint to our sunrises/sunsets.

Heading into Monday, the heat begins to really wind up, reaching into triple digits for many days in a row. Overnight lows won't provide much relief either as we struggle to 'cool' down below 80°. Make sure to take it easy next week, drink plenty of water, and find ways to stay cool!
