Customers asked to destroy recalled toy guns sold on Temu

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Federal health officials are urging people who bought a type of toy gun off Temu.com to take action immediately.

The Consumer Product and Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a recall Friday, July 26 for Victor Electric Folding Soft Bullet Toy Guns. The toys are being recalled as they fail to meet federal safety standards such as lacking a blaze orange tip which is a mandatory requirement to help people tell the difference between toy guns and real guns. The toy guns also pose an eye injury hazard to children as they do not meet requirements in the mandatory toy standard for projectile toys.

The recall impacts 490 of the toy guns sold exclusively on Temu.com by Youjiu. The toys were sold in black/green and black/sand coloration with "KRISS VECTOR" and ".45 ACP" printed on their sides. Accessories included with the toys are a magazine, holographic sight, foam bullet projectiles and toy goggles.

The CPSC is encouraging customers who purchased the toy guns to stop using them immediately and contact Youjiu for a full refund. To get a refund, customers should remove the magazine and battery, cut the black and red wires linked to the battery, take a photo of the destroyed toy gun and send it to Youjiu's store through Temu's onsite messaging system by using this link.

The toy guns were sold from March 2023 through June 2023 for around $45 and were produced in China. No injuries have been reported yet in connection to this recall.
