What We’re Tracking

  • Hazy conditions continue
  • Seasonable temperatures
  • Getting hot next week

Temperatures are mild this morning in the lower 70s. Light winds will stay from the southeast throughout the morning before we heat things up over the next few days.

We'll hold on to sunshine as highs top out in the low to mid 90s again this afternoon. Expect clear skies, dry conditions and light winds to wrap up the work week.

This area of high pressure from the west will start to shift over head, and that will keep temperatures in the 90s and feeling hot heading into the weekend. The upper level jet stream will also carry wildfire smoke from the Pacific Northwest and Canada into northeast Kansas. This is creating a 'hazy' look outside and a red tint to our sunrises/sunsets.

Our weekend will consist of seasonable temperatures in the lower to middle 90s. Overnight hours over the next few days look to be mostly clear and lows fall into the upper 60's to lower 70s.

Heading into Monday, the heat begins to really crank up, reaching into triple digits for many days in a row. Overnight lows won't provide much relief either as we struggle to 'cool' down below 80°. Make sure to take it easy next week, drink plenty of water, and find ways to stay cool!
