1. Sea plane crashes into Hudson River in Catskill

A small sea plane crashed into the Hudson River in Catskill Thursday evening. Around 5 p.m., the single-engine plane crashed in the area of Dutchman’s Landing after having a mechanical issue.

2. Former President Obama and Michelle Obama endorse Harris

Former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama gave their highly-anticipated endorsement for Vice President Harris on Friday. The Harris campaign released a one-minute video entitled “Endorsement” featuring a phone call, during which the Obamas gave their support to Harris.

3. Western Avenue lane closures in Guilderland to begin July 29

Weekday lane closures on Western Avenue (Route 20) in the town of Guilderland will begin on July 29. The lane closures will take place on Western Avenue from State Route 155 to Carman Road.

Congestion pricing advocates filed two lawsuits against New York Gov. Kathy Hochul on Thursday. They accused Hochul—and by extension, the Department of Transportation (DOT)—of violating state law mandating climate action when she unilaterally nixed the environmental program weeks before its start date.
